Teen School
This service focuses on, structured exercises, group and personal exploration, group therapy and counseling to help the youth make basic decisions about his values and life goals. "Disrupters," seriously disturbed youth. In a supportive role with LAUSD and affiliated schools, R.I.G.H.T. Program provides an array of services to youth in the areas od goal setting, career building, family intervention, academic support, community mentoring and connections and links to services throughout the Los Angeles basin. These activities are geared to support the drug, alcohol and mental health counseling offered by R.I.G.H.T. Program for school-aged children and youth.
School based Programs are available due to the need for services, availability of allotted time and the range and scope of services needed.
Youths, if attending school comes to the R.I.G.H.T. Program designated area or center in the afternoons, generally for a period of three to six months. If they are not in school, center activities are scheduled during the day. Peer-group sessions, role-playing and psychodrama, individual counseling, recreation, workshops, and seminars are all used. An attempt is made to establish role-model identification with staff members.
Our interactive presentations and practical sessions contain simple, true information about the physical and mental effects of drugs, as well as other social issues related to drug use. The delivery of the program includes hands-on demonstration of the material with plenty of real life application.
Our professionals provide a realistic picture of drug use. We don't just tell kids to "say no" we educate them to come to that conclusion on their own, and more importantly, show them how to say no and what exactly they are saying no to.
Our study of questionnaires filled out by students has shown us the precise information that causes kids to:
- Decide to stop using drugs (for those who already used them).
- Change their mind from possibly trying or using drugs to a firm decision not to use them.
- Believe more firmly in their decision not to use drugs
(when they state they are already against them).
During the Student's enrollment at R.I.G.H.T. Program, they are assigned an addiction counselor to suggest positive behavior modification to learn how to live life without drugs & alcohol. An emphasis on sobriety and life coping skills for interpersonal and business relationships is fostered in our structured environment. By meeting on a regular basis, the counselor is the Student's personal guide during their stay, making recovery from drugs and alcohol as successful and pleasant as possible.
